You’re gonna need a piece of cardboard , a size zero US hook , a darning needle , some pins , scissors , and some scrap yarn .

Start with a magic circle or wind yarn around finger three times with end of yarn at tip of finger. Slide hook under yarn and pull third loop under the first two loops then slide off finger.

Round 1: Chain 5, counts as first dc, ch 2. *Dc  through both loops, chain 2. Repeat from * 4 more times. Gently pull tail to gather then slst into chain 5 to join.

Round 2: Chain 3 and work 3 dc in ch  2 space, ch 2. *Work 4 dc in next ch 2 space, ch 2. Repeat from * 4 more times. Join to top of ch 3.

Round 3: * Slst in each dc across to ch 2 space and slst in ch 2 space. Ch 3, slst, ch 5, slip stitch, ch 7, slip stitch, ch 5, slip stitch, ch 3 slip stitch, all in same ch 2 space. Repeat from * 5 more times, cut yarn leaving a long tail and pull through loop.

To create loop to hang, use darning needle to weave end through one of the points. Do the same with the other end and tie.

To block, you can dampen the snowflake with just water and pin at each point to a piece of cardboard and let dry. For a stiffer snowflake it can be blocked using equal parts water and glue. You can also sprinkle with glitter for a sparkly snowflake after applying the glue/water mixture.

  • 100% acrylic wool (3-3,5mm) raw white color, red, green Yellow.
  • Crochet hook of size 2mm.
  • Fiber fill.
  • Tapestry needle.
  • Scissors
  • Threads (to hang from the tree).

Clarification:

In the closed rounds we join the last stitch with the first using a slip stitch. This point will not count and we will skip them on the next lap.
